Show Venue Guidelines

Please note that our show venue is a NO OUTDOOR SHOES venue. This means outdoor shoes may not be worn beyond the shoe station in the entrance area. High heels are also prohibited. To ensure a smooth entrance, please pack sleep socks, slippers, woollen socks, or indoor shoes at the top of your show supplies. You may bring your own chairs and show trolleys, provided they do not block the aisles.

Theme, Competitions and Awards

The theme of our show is a PYJAMA PARTY. We hope exhibitors will embrace the theme in their outfits and cage decorations!

A toy cat competition for children will be held at approximately 12:00 on both days. Register on site at the information desk!

Vaccination Check and Veterinary Inspection

Before the show, please make sure your cat’s vaccinations are up to date. On entering the show hall, all cats will be checked for valid vaccinations in accordance with Suomen Kissaliitto’s show rules. White cats must have a hearing certificate, and housecats must have proof of spaying/neutering. All cats participating in the show must be microchipped. Booster vaccinations and validity periods must comply with the vaccine manufacturer’s instructions. A veterinarian’s validity endorsement may not extend beyond the manufacturer’s instructions. The last permissible vaccination date for cats participating on Saturday was Friday, 18 September 2026. After the vaccination check, cats will be selected at random for a veterinary examination. THE VACCINATION CERTIFICATE MUST INCLUDE THE CAT’S OFFICIAL NAME AND MICROCHIP NUMBER. 

Veterinary examination: Sat and Sun 8:00–9:30
The examination will be carried out through random checks. If a cat does not pass the veterinary examination, it must be removed from the show venue. If a cat is rejected due to an infectious disease, no other cats living in the same household may participate in the show either

Check-in on Show Day

Registration takes place at a separate registration desk after the vaccination check.

Show Catalogue and Corrections

Please check that your cat’s details and any additional classes are correct both in the confirmation letter and in the show catalogue on the day of the show. Send corrections to the show secretary by email at show@urk.fi before the show, or report them to the secretariat at the show.

The show catalogue will be published electronically for exhibitors. Pre-purchased catalogues can be collected from the rosette desk, and a printed copy will be available for browsing at the number slip desk.

If your cat will not participate in the show, please notify the show secretary as soon as possible. To request a refund, send any veterinary/medical certificate and your bank account details by 18 October 2026 to URK’s treasurer at rahastonhoitaja@urk.fi.

Show Procedures, Early Departure and Panel

The event is a regular show, so exhibitors must remain at the venue until the show ends. If your cat is not participating in the panel, we will provide information about permission to leave on the day of the show. Remember to collect your cat’s judging slip; present it at the rosette desk to receive a complimentary rosette for your cat

Judging begins at 9:45 on both days.

Please follow the progress of judging and bring your cat to the judge on time. 

FOR THE JUDGING ORDER AND NOMINATIONS, TYYNYSOTA HAS PRIORITY. If your cat is still being judged at Tyynysota, please let the Höyhensaaret staff know!

If your cat earns a title at the first show, notify the secretariat immediately. Please remember that entering the correct class is the owner’s responsibility, and the judge cannot change the cat’s class without the secretariat’s permission

Permission to leave early may be requested in writing from the show manager before judging begins, and only for a justified reason. Please remember that if you request permission for your cat to leave early, the cat will no longer be eligible to participate in nominations. Early departure request forms are available at the information desk and must be returned there once completed.

The panel will be a cageless panel. The best breeding cats, veterans, and breeders, as well as cats that have earned the SP/SC title, will be awarded during and after the panel.

Cages and Cage Spaces

The cages measure 65 × 65 × 56 cm. If you bring your own soft cage, its minimum dimensions must be 50 × 50 × 50 cm. Our welfare officer will make regular rounds to verify that cages meet the minimum requirements. Cats must be provided with water, food, a litter tray, and litter

Cage spaces at our show are not pre-numbered.

Cat litter is not provided at the show, so please bring your own

Please note that one cage space is available per cat. A double space may not be reserved with belongings. No separate cage spaces are available for companion cats.

Safety and Welfare

There is only a very limited number of cage dividers available at the show. By decision of the cage supplier, dividers are provided only in the judges’ cages. Please be prepared to shield your cat’s cage, including a Sturdi cage, with blankets or similar so that your cat cannot see unfamiliar cats. Please ensure your cat’s safety by covering the cage appropriately.

Disinfectant bottles and cleaning supplies are available at the ends of the cage rows. Return them to their places after use. Litter trays and other waste must be emptied only into the designated waste containers, not into toilets or wastepaper bins. Separate buckets are provided for liquids. Do not put water or other liquids into the waste containers! Remember that what you leave behind may be waiting at your own spot at the next show – so keep your area tidy! A little effort makes the organisers’ work easier.

Our show follows the official FIFe Show Rules as well as the Code of Ethics for Exhibitors.

Additional Information

 There will be a café at the show venue, and a pizza truck will be in the yard selling delicious pizza (please note: gluten-free pizza will not be available).

Parola’s services are a short distance from the venue.

Bringing your own alcoholic drinks is not permitted at our show. There is no licensed serving area either

We will begin setting up the show on Friday, 2 October 2026 at 17:00. The setup session is a great opportunity to learn how a cat show is assembled and to meet new cat enthusiasts. The show will be dismantled on Sunday evening immediately after it ends – your help will be very welcome then too!
